What I always think is… it’s amazing.
I’m impressed that it doesn’t catch fire or have electrical connection problems.
If something goes wrong, I think it would be absolutely incomprehensible.
Crimp the terminals firmly! Nowadays with LEDs, the wiring has become thinner.
Strip it long, fold it once, then crimp—that works too. If you’re worried, solder it and it won’t pull out.
This is pretty dangerous—no fuse on the battery positive side.
Quite a few people do this, but if you pinch it and cause a short, the battery will drop directly and there’s a high chance of fire.
If you short it while a charger is connected… that’s really bad.
*A smart charger might be a bit safer?
Downsides of using salvaged switches
• The color is different.
• The switch operates, but it’s unclear if it’s actually correct.
Plus, if it’s DIY work, I’m a bit concerned.
*The person who touched it last bears the biggest responsibility…
I’m jumping ahead a bit and roughly stripped it down.
Since this is a modified bike, I need to note various things.
NGK OEM terminal NT4245 25 yen each
Apparently they used to have brass ones, but now it’s aluminum only. (Confirmed with NGK)
If you’re running Watanabe and using these, replacing them occasionally will give you about a 1% improvement, I think.
As always, this blue bracket won’t be used.
Even though it’s aluminum, it’s quite thin in places close to the side.
Trying to save space while keeping maintenance and appearance good.
