Z1000LTD (KZ1000 Look) inspection, self-point maintenance, and PAMS clutch kit replacement work.

Air-cooled engines from this era are really something special, aren’t they? The people who created designs that are still loved after all these years are truly great.
I’d love to know the reason for this mysterious paint color… Could it be? Maybe there was a black version out there… No, that can’t be right.
The rust marks that stick around are really annoying.
When you remove the clutch cover and look at the window, if you think it’s dirty or hard to see, definitely replace it!

It really makes things look brand new (´・ω・´)Shiny!
Looking from inside the clutch cover, the oil level window hole looks like a coin slot…
I was puzzled about how to remove it.

• If it’s just once, punch it out roughly
• If you want to consider future use, make something simple

I was going “hmm, hmm, hmm?” and decided on the latter…
The next problem becomes “how do I make it in a snap?”

For me, “cutting” and “welding” are the easiest.
I didn’t want to use a lathe or milling machine, so I made it by process of elimination.

The window slot dimensions are about 4.2 × 23 mm.

I cut SUS304 t=2 mm, 22.5 × 15 mm in two pieces with a shear, and welded them to a scrap SUS pipe.

When making tools like this, I think “if it doesn’t look decent, you’ll lose it, right?”
Insert it into the coin slot
Just stand it up and tap it.
That’s how it goes. This design really needs something inside or a stopper…
If internal pressure builds up and it pops out, that would be scary.
Before replacing the window, I prepared the surface. It had some wear, so I polished it.
Same on the inside. I really think restoration elements that flow from the work are truly important.
I hope that with each job it gets cleaner and runs better.
