Z1R-2 Inspection, Newtech Oil Change, Valve Adjustment, Master Tank Bracket Fabrication, and More

We received a request for inspection, Newtech oil change, valve adjustment, master tank bracket fabrication, and more.

First, we got a request to swap out the mirror co-mounted bracket and replace it with an H2 Brembo black tank (large).

We fabricated the parts piece by piece.

We docked everything together and it was complete.

That’s how it went. There’s nothing fancy or elaborate about it—I think simplicity is best.

As much as possible, I think it looks better if we don’t co-mount it to the handlebar clamp.

We cut out the plate.

We mounted it with low-profile bolts, kept it clear of the fairing, and we’re done.

The oil leak was coming from the shift shaft. We made a sliding hammer, pulled it out, and replaced it.

The generator connector was burned, so we swapped it out as a precaution.

We changed it to a 250-3P connector and wrapped it with mesh tubing to improve the appearance a bit.

Lock washers are reassuring when you bend them firmly.

Power on/off points tend to loosen, so marking them with a marker makes it easier to check later.

We’re sending the rear wheel out for painting. We want to keep the work moving full speed! Masking it makes the process feel easier and smoother. (Maybe the customer feels more at ease too?)

We removed the tire with a tire changer (something between hand assembly and an electric changer).

We heated the bearings on the wheel and pressed them out.

Time passed, and it came back looking brand new.
This is where the tension ramps up.

The disc is Sunstar. The tire is out of stock, so we’re reusing the old one for now.

When the disc is new, the pads are new too—a matched pair. They bed in easily.
