GSF1200 oil-cooled maintenance request.
We’ll make a VR2 judgment based on the situation.
The engine damper was in quite a sharp condition.
Time to clean the case side too.
The new damper has deep grooves. It fits snugly into the case with no play. I think vibration will be reduced somewhat.
We’ll also replace the starter motor O-ring.
The generator damper has hardened rock solid and isn’t doing its job anymore.
I cleaned it up as much as I could polish it.
Let’s clean the case side when we remove it.
I’ll get back to you when removing the generator. The terminal melted and won’t come out—it really hits home that the GSF is an old bike now. I cut it and replaced it with a connector of the same shape.
I had a feeling it might leak, so VR2 (shift seal and oil window replacement).
The shift seal was stuck harder than ever before, and I got a little nervous… but we got through it.
The oil window was so dirty you couldn’t see through it at all—this one also stuck unusually tight and was a bit stubborn.
Ahh, that feels good. It’s like wiping your glasses.
