Today is a fabrication day! The first job—planning and prep take way longer than the actual work, I think?

First up: fabricating a Watanabe coil bracket. The stock accessories have poor serviceability, so I’m improving it for my own benefit. I was just tack-welding away when the back side came out too far, so I’m grinding it down.

When installed, it looks like this. Two bolts let you remove the entire coil assembly.
When you take it off, the nuts roll around—kind of a bummer.

The wiring isn’t bundled, but it looks really clean. I think this could work on a KLM too.

The structure is very simple—just bent and fitted with an anti-rotation tab. With a single-point mount, you need that anti-rotation feature for heavy components or it gets a bit sketchy.

From here you can adjust the timing advance and rev limiter from the side.

The customer asked if there’s a way to remove the tank easily for carburettor tuning.
After thinking about it all night, I figured this was the only way…

A very simple racing-style bracket.

That’s how it turned out. Since it’s on the underside, I wondered if I should flow it a bit more, but it’s surprisingly solid under its own weight—very reassuring.
Should be done by the end of the week. Just waiting on some small parts.
