Does a vacuum carburetor look shabby because of corrosion and deterioration?
I’m not fussy about maintenance cycles—the stock carburetor is wonderful because it runs from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, even at high elevations.
Let’s give it a light wash and then take it apart piece by piece.
The condition is about what you’d expect for the mileage and age.
Quite a bit of rust… rust removal work has been added to the job.
The throttle bore wear is mild—still plenty of life left in it.
The transformation is hard to believe it’s the same part. Really satisfying.
