CBR1100XX Self-point maintenance 30

p1630674
We’re continuing with water-cooled models with fairings.

p1630669
We’ll wipe down the chain thoroughly to clean it. Opinions may differ, but I think if the surface plate rusts even though it’s still usable, it’s worth replacing.

Replacing it and then applying rust protection to keep it clean and in good condition is also a great approach.

p1630670
Remove the fork dust seals and apply fork oil for lubrication.
This also boosts rust protection. Surprisingly, if you apply it between the top and stem, wipe it off, and keep doing that, the fork stays in great condition.

I recently got a steam cleaner, which I’ve been wanting for a while. Now I can clean the radiator and oil cooler a bit from the front.

p1630674
The warm water isn’t under high pressure, so it should lift and wash away dirt. (Though it won’t get things amazingly clean.)

p1630675
It works great for cleaning calipers too. You spray steam in this state, then brush it, and rinse with steam. It’s incredibly time-saving and uses almost no water, so it’s fantastic.

p1630680
Since we’re replacing the boots, we’ll leave them installed. If you’re not replacing them, remove them.

p1630676
Always finish by applying rust-preventive oil. The parts are degreased at this point, so if you want to keep them clean, apply some oil.

Black cast calipers look even nicer this way.

p1630681 p1630682
I gave it a light steam. It cleans to a certain degree. Using detergent along with it would be even more effective.

p1630683 p1630684
I tested it on the support, which was covered in brake dust.

p1630685 p1630686
When dirt is just sitting on the surface, it comes right off.

p1630689 p1630691 p1630690
I really wanted to clean the disc easily, but it doesn’t work on the inside walls of the holes.
I’ll need to make a nozzle like an MJN…

p1630692 p1630693
In many cases, you can’t clean the rear caliper or wheel without removing them.
Now I can clean by hand, which is fantastic. And no detergent needed.

p1630694
Let’s replace the coolant too.

p1630695 p1630696
Replace the cap and label it with a label maker.

p1630697 p1630699 p1630698
Next, I replaced the fluid. After that, a test ride and we’re done.

30P
• Coolant replacement 6P
• Caliper cleaning 2P × 3 = 6P
• Fluid replacement 2P × 4 = 8P
• Chain cleaning and lubrication 2P
• Fork lubrication 1P
• Brake disc cleaning 3P
• Steering check 1P
• Radiator steam cleaning 2P
• Wako’s Fuel 1 1P
• Fairing removal/installation charge 2P

It’s mostly undercarriage work. Brake fluid, coolant, chain, and brakes are the minimum points we want to check.
