The wheel bearings and seals have arrived, so let’s install them.
The double-sided seals resist grease leakage and maintain a clean, non-oily condition.

The speed gear retainer is pretty rusty too. Since we don’t have a replacement on hand, we’ll polish it and restore it.

After polishing and spraying with our usual product, it looks great.

Let’s check the distance collar too.

The gear itself is heavily corroded…

We’ll polish it and reuse it.

The seal contact is strong, so we’ll smooth it out. Now it spins smoothly right away.

We removed the bearing seals and checked inside. The left one was especially rough. It’s a mix of rust and grease.
When there’s too much grease, it can cause problems like this. Excessive washing might be the main culprit. The grease gets mixed with water, doesn’t evaporate, and keeps corroding everything.

The rear was surprisingly clean.

Once the contact surfaces are seated, it’ll spin even more smoothly. You’re good for a while now.
