We’ll remove the corrosion and clean it up nicely. It’s a small detail, but it makes a difference in how good it feels.

The support bracket was pretty dirty too, so we polished it. You’ll have peace of mind for a while. When you disassemble things like this, taking a little extra care makes the parts last longer and keeps them looking good.

It’s a good idea to replace the lock nuts if possible for added peace of mind.

We apply a thin coat of thread compound to areas where rust would be a problem. It’s heat-resistant and doesn’t blow off easily, so it’s reasonably effective.

We’ve assembled the plate with the inner width matched to the others. It’s better not to have some areas tight and others loose where they’re bolted together.

DSC_5851After that, we’ll do a test ride and we’re done. Sorry for the wait.
