This GSF1200 shows signs of wear throughout. Let’s inspect each component and clean it up.
The steering stem shows no signs of previous disassembly, but it’s completely dry—no lubrication at all.
We polished it and cleaned it up. It looks much refreshed.

We replaced the races and confirmed them visually.
We packed it with Newtech NC100 grease. Grease starvation causes the most damage. Too much grease creates resistance, and if the grease is too stiff, it becomes sluggish. On the other hand, if there’s too little, the frame heats up and grease leaks from the lower seal.
After trying various options, this grease has proven to be the best balance.
Now that the disassembled parts are clean, we want to gradually raise the overall quality of the bike.
