It’s been a few years and just under 20,000 kilometers since the last front maintenance.
Since it was time for a fork oil change, let’s check the stem while we’re at it.
The play has increased slightly, but there’s plenty of oil left, so we’re good.
The condition is excellent, so we’re in good shape.
We’ll reseal it with Newtech NC100 grease. It’s soft and doesn’t drip much, so you can use it with confidence.
It varies by model, but the angle range from “loose” to “too stiff” is probably around 10 to 25 degrees.
The strike zone is within this range, and it’s easy to see with your eyes.
The fork oil is clean too. There’s no metal-on-metal wear, so we’re safe.
Since years have passed, the owner asked us to check the condition of the brake hoses.
That’s impressive attention to detail. We’d say the same thing.
We install the undercowl that the owner worked hard on, even though it’s gotten a bit rough.
One way or another, using a laser for positioning has made the job dramatically easier.
Not that it matters, but the design is LEICA—it’s a laser level. Tools need function, but design matters too.
