Let’s replace the starter clutch. I was a bit worried about the delivery time, but it arrived quickly and saved the day.

It might be good to know the numbers to see if even the bad ones still have a chance of recovery.

It’s worn down by about 6/100. Step wear is also a problem.

This one was about 3/100. Not as bad as it looks.

We stretched it, so the left side, which is used, looks a bit better.

Knowing the play and wear between new and used parts might come in handy, so let’s take a closer look.

It’s gotten pretty black… The wiring is also a bit stiff and worrying.

Everything’s falling apart, so we’ll replace it including the frame side. The crimping isn’t quite trustworthy, so I’m in the solder camp.

The back is pretty gunked up… That kind of thing bothers me, so let’s replace the seal.

We’ll clean it up nicely and then reassemble. When you keep up these little extra touches over time, the bike gets cleaner and cleaner.
Tomorrow we’ll test ride it and it’ll be complete.
