Moo, moo, moo… the engine won’t start at all… and we’re just preparing for inspection…
The starter gear is worn down and barely meshes with the starter clutch—it looks like it might be dead. Since it’s not the starter motor itself, I’ll check the clutch side.
The shell is cracked through, so it’s pretty much out.
Rough and pitted—too bad.
This one’s also got plenty of dull wear on it—out.
And to top it off, springs of different lengths… one bike tomorrow is going to be inefficient, inefficient.
The clutch mounting bolts are loose too.
I peeled back the gear side and corrected it, fixed the pitted drum, adjusted the springs by feel, and now it spins smoothly. Yeah, yeah, glad that worked out.
Scheduled to bring it in tomorrow. Phew, I’m exhausted.
