The Bandit 1200 is back with us. Today we’ll perform oil-cooled maintenance.
The generator damper was in somewhat stiff condition and somewhat worn.
After digging through the claylike buildup, it finally came into view. It’s lightly pressed in, so it comes out easily.
We’ll insert the oil seal gently by hand.
The damper wear was overall quite worn.
We’ll remove the front hanger and reassemble it in a position where it sits well.
I’ve given it a light coat of rust preventative.
The front bolt wouldn’t budge at all—I got a bit nervous there. If it breaks, we’d have to remove the head, so we need to be careful.
Fortunately, we managed to get it out.
The intake side had seizing in two spots.
The exhaust side was pristine with no issues.
We’ll check the synchronization.
This looks good.
New Tech oil change
We’re replacing the 21 mm drain bolt without question and swapping it for a 17 mm one. We’re choosing a reliable steel drain bolt.
The sidestand is looking lonely and rusty and feels heavy, so let’s check it.
We’ll match the width, add shims, and finish it up—I think it’ll look great.
