There’s oil on the contact surfaces. My guess is it’s dripping inward from the heat.
The grease used for steering has a low dropping point and resists heat well
so it feels responsive and lasts longer.
I’ve tried raising the dropping point to prevent heat-related dripping,
but aluminum frames and such leak right away from the stem—a real mess.
These days I’m settled on Newtech NC100.
I’m hoping to try Doctor’s Juice too, but I don’t have much on hand, so I haven’t gotten around to testing it yet. ★
