What’s going on? It’s kind of dirty, but… there’s some rubber-like stuff all over the place.
There’s really a lot of it—the speed gear is in this condition.
I’m wondering if they didn’t spin it after assembling the wheel?

The rubber stuff is actually the lip seal from inside here! Since this isn’t an off-road bike, it’s not really a problem.
The bearings feel good with no play for now. The sealed grease is definitely old, of course.
Wow, it spins really well—but then I noticed the right side of the wheel is peeling up a bit. Oh no.
The moment I put the caliper on, the wheel won’t spin at all.
The piston is a bit rusty too.
I’ll check again tomorrow.
