The Superbike Hot Era

I bought a GS1000S at age 21 without really knowing what I was doing.
I was disappointed the first time I rode it… I wondered why I’d bought something like this.
Well, compared to the XJR1200 I’d been riding before that, I guess it makes sense.
Of course I didn’t know about superbikes either. I didn’t even know about Yoshimura until I turned 18 (sorry about that).
The seniors around me were riding classic bikes.
I joined all sorts of tours without really knowing what I was doing.
They taught me about parts, historical background, videos (that’s all we had back then), books and more.
I got completely hooked.
It felt like reading back through a finished book, hunting through it.
Back then there was no internet, so parts came only through connections, classified ads, or flea markets.
But the 20th century still had parts lying around everywhere.
Everything was RGB, RGB—I’d buy unused parts and sell them, buy and sell, you know?
Bonneville pipes used to trade for around 100,000 yen or so on the used market…
Oil-cooled bikes weren’t popular back then like they are now.
I found this in my bike album, so I’m introducing someone else’s bike.
 

 
Even now you can see the good taste shining through.
This sophistication is really a well-executed bike…

Lots more in the back. The tach has RGB embedded in it too, and the cover bolts are titanium flathead.
The oil cooler routing is worth noting too—it’s routed on top and looks really clean.
The fender is STD chrome too.
The kickstand is mounted on the backstep ★
Of course it works! It was a bike that really moved me.

Front and rear, silver Campagnolo ★ I really dreamed about it—the way “silver Campa” sounded.
This was when my older brother said he was going to race at Monster, so I went to help. It was the 20th century.
I was young too. Still dressed in my usual wild style though…
Thinking back on the old days on a long winter’s night ★
A bike is an environment; if you don’t have an environment where you can enjoy it, you won’t stick with it.
I was fortunate to find myself in such an environment, and I’m grateful for it again.
