Everything Finds Peace Now

I knew it, I knew it, but my iPod broke anyway!
I bought it last March and it breaks about once a month—it’s the worst!
But it kept coming back to life under warranty, and I thought this last one would be fine, and then…
It died… dammit!
Oh well, I’ll just make do with the second one… but that one’s acting up too (20GB). Ugh.
Then I heard an 80GB is coming out! I have to buy it! I really have to buy it!
So I searched for a shop that gets me excited about buying… it wasn’t that cheap, but I figured it was okay.
Afternoon. M, who we always see at the year-end party, stopped by to buy a tail light bulb.
He told me a story that really touched my heart.
M also uses a Shuffle 1G, and this time it broke, so he went to the Apple Store in Ginza.
M: Um, excuse me, this isn’t working right. Could you take a look?
Half-Japanese clerk: Got it! *looks and looks, fiddles and fiddles*
Half-Japanese clerk: Oh, this is broken!
M: Well, I know it’s broken, but what exactly is wrong with it?
Half-Japanese clerk: Well, it’s broken, so it’s no good anymore!
M: Huh?
Half-Japanese clerk: Fixing this is a pain, so you’d be better off just buying a new one! ♪
Half-Japanese clerk: I’ll give you a little discount, how about it?
Apparently he ended up buying another one, even though he was annoyed…
M: It’ll just break again anyway. Chinese stuff like this… Apple sure knows how to do business!
And so…
I was thinking about buying the 80GB coming out this month, but my heart was really shaken. Will it break again and I won’t be able to listen to music?
I kept thinking about it, and I ended up buying it anyway…

60GB! With this much, I won’t be cutting it close anymore!
This time it’s a bit pricey, but I bought it at Bic Camera with a three-year warranty!
It’s better than having it break and rack up repair costs or agonizing over a different model…
I ordered it online and it’ll take two to three weeks. I hope it comes soon!
