I happened to notice something interesting on a cooking show the other day.
It was that food reporters shouldn’t say things like “delicious” or “tasty.”
The reason is simple: saying “delicious” or “tasty” is far too easy an expression, and a true reporter should be able to
convey what something is really like by describing it through all five senses.
After the show made that point, nobody could just say “tasty” or “yum” anymore, and everyone felt
just how difficult it is to report on food properly.
But I’m just an amateur, so “delicious” and “tasty” are fine for me.
Speaking of chicken, there’s been a lot of buzz lately about that chicken place, but honestly, my record there is one win and two losses.
The problem comes down to inconsistent grilling. When they grill it too much, the delicious fat drains away and the meat gets tough.
That’s a bit of a drawback. Also, the place gets so lively and crowded that eating out with everyone isn’t as enjoyable as you’d think it would be.
That’s just how it is.
So today I really wanted to eat chicken (I love okonomiyaki the most, but that got vetoed), so
I headed to the yakitori place from my past rankings ☆ Of course, the number one spot near the old racetrack! ♪
When I called, they were packed and couldn’t seat anyone, but a well-run shop is different!
They said they’d prepare a table and call me back shortly.
After I gave them my name and number, they called back a few minutes later saying, “It’s been a while! We’re ready for you now, so we’ll be waiting for
you.” Ah, they remembered me—this chicken fanatic! That made me so happy.
So right away ♪ The three of us—me, mjshachou, and the boss—had our first dish, and I was blown away by the liver! This is it!
The liver here is something else—it’s so plump and chewy! ♪ No gaminess at all, it’s the best ☆
The amazing experience kept going, and I really felt that this place is definitely number one.
When you go out to eat with me, please set the heat to “low, medium, or high.” The higher you go, the more the table fills up, so be careful!
I was so blown away that I actually fell asleep in the bath.
That’s been happening a lot lately. I’ll be careful not to drown.
