I headed out to Asakawa Speed today.
On the way back, someone spotted my GS and said, “Oh, you’re still riding that!” and started looking it over.
“You’ve got an amazing muffler on there!”
“There aren’t many of these around, and come to think of it, this weld mark might be mine… Really?”
Then they started checking out the exhaust pipe, going “Hmm, hmm,” and asking if this is a factory piece.
“Well, I wouldn’t know anything about that.”
“Oh, that brings back memories!”
“What is this… a bench?! You’ve got the real inner hub—that’s impressive!”
They were unusually focused on checking out the GS.
“What’s this… rear master cylinder…” they said with a surprised tone.
“What’s this… rear suspension…” I replied, “That’s different—it’s from Togashi’s place.”
Oh no! I realized too late that I’d put it on my bike without adjusting anything.
“Can I press on it?”
“Sure, go ahead…”
“What the—you’re riding it like this?” they said.
“How’s it running?”
“What do you mean?”
“The engine. The carburetor and stuff.”
“Well, it’s not great… but the story gets complicated, so…”
I made an excuse about running out of time and hurried back.
