This is a stock GSF1200 caliper that’s going to be installed on a Bandit 1200.
I’ve already disassembled it.
The seal interior shows almost no corrosion—it’s in great shape.
I wonder if the anodizing is doing its job.
The pistons are aluminum, so I’ll assemble them.
They’re light ★ and smooth.
I’m measuring roughly with calipers,
Aluminum
Small piston: 30.15φ × 22.55
Large piston: 33.85φ × 22.55
Steel
Small piston: 30.15φ × 22.6
Large piston: 33.9φ × 22.55
That’s what I got. These aren’t precise measurements, so take them as reference only…
I use a T-shaped brush on the rotary tool to remove debris ★
Replace the split bolts with new ones, apply grease, tighten to spec, and we’re done!
Waiting on the rear pistons!
The customer sure knows their stuff.
