According to the meter, just over 50,000 kilometers
There’s quite a bit of buildup, but overall it looks pretty good.
The piston is definitely worn out, so we’ll replace it.
Once rust sets in, it tends to rust again, so polishing and reusing is an option,
but for calipers, it’s better to replace the piston as a set with seals included.
It gets surprisingly messy pulling the piston out! ★
There are some clever tricks to remove it more cleanly, but…
it takes a lot of thought to gather the materials, and it gets tedious… maybe next time.
We soften the grime with hot water
and it comes out pitch black! ★
