The other day we did rear maintenance and such. This time the customer asked us to handle oil-cooled maintenance.
The generator damper had already hardened completely. When this wears out, the engine gets pretty loud, so you notice it right away.
In this condition, I think the effect will be dramatic.
The engine damper is also worn and quite hard.
There’s little benefit to installing the early model, and we can improve serviceability and use shorter mount bolts with the later model, which doesn’t need a nut, so we’ll swap to that.
We’ll remove the front hanger, clean it, and install it in a way that doesn’t put strain on the assembly.
The engine slider has damage.
We’ll slice it thin with a metal saw.
The bent base plate
We corrected it with a hydraulic press. Even correcting both takes less than five minutes. I think it’s better in many ways going forward when the areas we service look nice.
Having machine tools and such versus not having them makes a huge difference in the time it takes.
