Let’s disassemble the carburettor. There aren’t many vacuum carburetors without a return system these days. The unusually strong return spring might be a reflection of the era.
Boom! There are signs of some disassembly. It looks like only the float gasket was replaced… The float valve shows no severe damage, so we’ll reuse it.
The O-ring on the float valve seat side is loose, so it was leaking sideways.
The PS doesn’t even have a washer or O-ring installed. With this setup, it runs great no matter who assembles it—we’re grateful for that.
Waiting for parts…
If the throttle cable were bent about 20 degrees, it might run more smoothly.
We narrowed down the model from our abundant collection of actual throttle cable samples.
The air cleaner too…
Melted wiring and rough wiring… we’ll handle that later.
The spark plug cap is NGK.
It looks subtly original, which I think is nice.
