GS1200SS-II Inspection/Self-Point Maintenance/Newtech Oil Change
The oil had dried off the lever, so this might be good timing for maintenance.
The throttle was in clean condition.
It’s quite a high throttle position. It’s pretty stiff, so you might want to adjust it to a lower throttle opening instead.
This bike doesn’t have any issues, but always make sure the throttle kit stopper is engaged. I sometimes see throttles that are balanced between pull and return.
The calipers were in good shape. There was some light surface rust, but it’s at a level that comes off easily, so you don’t need to worry about it.
The fluid is clean too. The diaphragm showed no stretching or wear—it’s in great condition.
The sidestand was in good condition with plenty of oil on it.
If you take it off and clean it occasionally, the inner tubes will last much longer and you’ll reduce damage to the oil seals.
Please don’t remove it with a flathead screwdriver if you can help it.
I made a stopper for it too.
We changed the oil and that completes the service.
