What really stands out is the STACK logo. It’s got a decent amount of weight to it.
Lately, I’m still not sure if swapping out parts counts as customization. I mean, we call ourselves a custom shop, but we don’t have any machine tools or anything like that, so I wonder sometimes.
So here’s the thing:
Most people first want to express their individuality. And if performance improves along the way, that’s even better. That’s probably how most folks think about it.
Then budget comes into play, and you end up agonizing over the three tiers—good, better, best. Some people find themselves with only the entry-level option in their current budget and have to go with that.
I’ve noticed something in this line of work: people often forget their original desire to express individuality and improve performance, and end up choosing based on price instead.
If you’re going to stick with the entry-level option, I’d say first get the existing parts in good shape, study them carefully, and then move up to the mid-tier or premium tier. That’s the way to go.
There are plenty of expensive things that don’t work well, but there’s basically no such thing as something cheap that’s good. To keep the price down, you have to cut corners on materials, labor, and all sorts of costs—that’s just how it works.
