I’m steadily collecting materials to convert the torch to water cooling.
Normally you’d need to gather items like these. Currently the torch is air-cooled, but since I don’t weld enough to make it get that hot, I thought it wasn’t necessary. When I occasionally look at other people’s torches, they’re all “ultra-fine”—that’s the thing: with water cooling, you can make the torch thinner while increasing its amperage capacity. If you get a torch and a genuine circulation system, the cost adds up pretty quickly. You could just run tap water straight through, but given my lazy nature, I know I’d spend a lot of time on setup and cleanup each session, so I want to get the equipment right.
It’s a non-self-priming pump, but if you’re talking about a proper pump, “IWAKI” is the name—I found one at a year-end clearance sale and it arrived.
The fluid tank is a tough call: twist it or go the orthodox route? I’d like to keep the layout clean and simple.
