The Sunstar rear brake kit is a great service option that includes a rear master cylinder overhaul, which isn’t often performed on its own.
The rear is pretty rusty. When it’s really bad, I don’t aggressively scrub or try to work out the corrosion. I think it’s faster and more effective to disassemble, clean, and replace the seals.
I also polish the master body and heel guard while I’m at it.
It’s really satisfying to see the worked areas come clean. It’s like coloring in a picture as you knock out each section.
It’s a bit of a shame that it ends up hidden.
I installed the backing plate too.
I also replaced the left and right step rubbers.
