Caliper inner dimensions vary widely. Making a list comes in handy.
We check the caliper inner dimension and total pad thickness, and if there are no issues, we install a T=5.5MM thick disk.
Before tightening the mounting bolts, lock them in the braking direction within the mounting tolerance, then tighten. It’s all about the mindset.
A torque wrench is necessary, but don’t forget the feel of hand-tightening either. We can’t use a faulty torque wrench reading as an excuse.
I notice considerable rust and sluggish operation, so I think caliper maintenance will be needed next time.
We also replaced the caliper bolts. If we shape the bottom with a wind-like finish, it should look pretty good.
