It appears to have originally been a vacuum cock. It had been replaced with an aftermarket part, which was old and starting to leak.
The new one arrived. The knob action is pretty stiff though—let me check it just to be sure.
No O-ring on the outer edge. The structure relies on a spring washer and a lotus-root gasket. Soft material means weak tension, which might cause seeping.
Filled it with gas and let it sit, then checked after lunch. Looks good.
The tank pressure was tight, so I’ll temporarily check it with a check valve.
Brake nipple, bicycle pedal ball, O-ring, and cotter pin.
Inside it’s two-stage, so the ball lifts under pressure and vents.
Since this is temporary, let’s test it using the keyway.
