Let’s start by disassembling the carburettor.

The exterior corrosion is quite heavy.

No rust and in good condition.

Both the back and front weren’t as dirty with carbon blowback as I expected.

There was one spot of binding on cylinder #4.

Around 70,000 kilometers? Still plenty of life left.

The needle’s anodizing must have held up well. It’s a beautiful piece.

The slide valve condition is also excellent. Of course, this is after cleaning.

The GS1200SS is already 15 years old… time flies.

We took it completely apart.

Though it’s not the same carburettor, this is the kind of finish you get. Very satisfying.
I thought I could assemble it today, but it’s all backorders… Oh right! There must be year-end inventory coming up.
