Two years already—time flies! With the rear suspension so long, the bike sleeps on the sidestand, and it’s heavy to pick up. I don’t like that, so for once we’re making a custom sidestand.
Stainless steel pipe, 20 mm diameter, 2 mm wall thickness—we bend it smoothly with the bender.
With the right tools, this kind of work goes cleanly without needing to heat and bend by hand.
We shape the sole and apply radius finishing. When each piece looks clean on its own, the final result looks good too—no need to hide it with black paint.
The base gets used, so we machine it on the lathe with an inlay cut—about 5/100 inch.
This way it won’t break off physically. Done.
Solid welding all the way around. Fabrication and custom work isn’t our main business, so please forgive the rough welds.
Rounding the pin tip looks nice too.
The foot rod looks better and deploys easier when it’s U-shaped.
The sole is welded solid too.
I hate discoloration, so we grind it all off. The base is iron, so we coat it with our usual durable paint.
Simple and looks great.
The spring is Honda, as always. The spring rate is low, so the sidestand moves very smoothly. It has a cover, so it stays clean.
Custom fabrication work is basically limited to existing customers.
