Undercowl installation, Exoat wheel swap, and Yoshimura cover replacement were added to the order.
The delivery came faster than expected, which is nice but also means the schedule has to shift.
It’s the usual Magical Racing.
It used to be aluminum, but lately it’s stainless steel. I don’t think we’d get the top and bottom mixed up, but we vary the chamfer radius left and right to make it clearer—or at least that’s the idea. But then design takes over and
we end up making them this way. It looks like we’re making all four at once, but we actually set a reference point somewhere and then make them one at a time. We don’t keep dimensions on file. The latest version is always the best spec.
Where parts contact, we cover them with 3M tape and weld them on.
We drill holes in the cowl to match the hidden brackets. The cowl flops around, so you can’t determine hole positions—back in the day we’d do something primitive like fix a bolt with a sharpened point and press it in to mark the spot. Looking back now, it’s hard to believe we did that. Now we can position things precisely. Laser is the way to go—we don’t want to do long slots or oversized holes.
We also stick sponge where the undercowl sits. Fasteners improve the look and make it easier to remove and install.
We do quite a bit of cutting and grinding, but we skip photos of that dusty work.
The aluminum cover re-released by Yoshimura. It’s really popular.

Swapping to the Exoat wheels that were brought in.
No runout, so we’re good.
Exoat has a lot of custom-designed parts. It’s pretty frustrating. You think, ‘Not another custom part!’ but then Google is your best friend. You can find drawings scattered all over the place.
The head with a rounded shoulder works fine. We cleared it with OEM parts.
For now, just the front is installed. We’ll check the rear alignment before swapping that too.
