A rare Type II model. Inspection, oil-cooled maintenance, and electroless nickel bolts—all on the agenda.

Oil-cooled maintenance for the first time in six years. The damper elasticity is in great shape.

It looks like we didn’t polish it six years ago. We’re always evolving and improving, aren’t we?

Let’s clean everything as thoroughly as we can before reassembling. When you clean and apply rust preventative at times like this, the paint won’t peel and you avoid unwanted corrosion—which means a longer life for the machine overall.

The engine damper wear was moderate, but the elasticity feels good.

When you apply grease to the damper, the case side stays in nice condition. Without it, you can get step wear or a rough, gritty surface. It seems to smooth out the vibration a bit and give a nice feel.

We learn from every bike that comes back after years and thousands of kilometers. We keep refining our approach—it’s working out well.
