We’ve been asked to do OEM carburettor maintenance.
First, we’ll replace the intake manifold.
The oil-cooled intake manifold shape is somewhat unusual. Once it’s discontinued, it’ll be a real problem—especially for CVK models.
OEM part prices tend to go up, not down. It might be a part worth buying and keeping on hand, since there’s no downside to stocking it.
It’s mounted on the cylinder head, so it’s in a harsh, high-heat environment.
Unlike the GSXR, the mounting bolts aren’t Phillips head, so removal and installation is straightforward.
There’s some blowback—pretty sharp condition, actually.
