New Year’s is over in a flash, and tomorrow we’re back to normal mode?
We’re steadily working away with parts we sourced a step or two ahead of time.

We’ll start with the caliper OH.
The lever action is a bit stiff, so the owner wants to lighten it up, and with the time of year it is, they figured it was about time.

It was relatively clean.
That greasy-looking stuff might be pad grease.
If the pad grease is doing its job, that’s a plus.
If it’s just insurance, it might be a minus.
*Brake dust sticks quite a bit and can’t be removed with soap, so it’s pretty annoying.

The pads were nearly worn out, so we’ll replace them this time. (Switching to sintered metal.)

We quickly cracked it open and pulled out the piston and seal.
The seal groove was cleaner than expected, so we’re in good shape.

59301-33861 We’ll use this to switch to an aluminum piston.

Inspecting both the old steel and the new aluminum pistons gives you a big boost in peace of mind.

69100-40811 For the rear, we’ll use this to switch to an aluminum piston.

Inspecting this one too gives you peace of mind.

Clean it up nicely, dry it, and we’re ready.

We apply CCI MR20 metal rubber and assemble.
*If you’re a grease person, definitely try this once—you might think, “Wow! This smooth?” The piston action is super smooth. (Insertion sound.)

We forgot to order the bolts… can’t assemble… brake work on hold.
