After all, the Mikuni vacuum carb BST is the strongest—it has a simple construction and is easy to work with.
We’ll also replace the starter valve.
This is from the parts-donor carb. The tip shape might have changed slightly—I’m not sure. (No particular significance.)
If the choke isn’t working well, spray parts cleaner from this hole.
If it comes out from here like a cat’s spray, that’s good.
It’ll come out with a little hiss.
Cotton swabs are pretty handy—even if it looks clean, dirt can stick to the surface.
You don’t need to worry too much, but running them through critical spots gives peace of mind.
I’ll apply Barrierta to promote seal operation (smooth back and forth) and prevent hardening.

Depending on the model, some don’t have the O-ring below this block listed in the parts catalog.
13278-47090 The one from GSF1200 and similar can be used.
Motorcycles often don’t have parts listed, so be careful.
This is the carb that was in use. There’s a little surface rust on it.
Since it’s minimal, there’s no problem.
Even in a spot like this, no-touch shine and gloss.
Apply and rub it in—ah, it’s clean! That’s the feeling. It’s good for all kinds of uses.
Unusually for Suzuki, there are slight differences depending on the market, so be careful.
You can judge by the needle (jet needle).
The difference between needle jet O-8 and O-9 is 5/1000, so… how much does that matter?
Rarely, you’ll find mixed springs, so watch out.
The float valve and float were extracted from the one in use.
This one looks to be in better condition.
Tomorrow we’ll adjust the oil level and the carb will be done.
The BST really is easy.
But the BSR… we’ll have to add labor charges going forward.
