When I stare intently at this page…
I feel the passage of time—the sense of things being phased out.
I wonder if aftermarket carburetors will disappear in just a few more years…
I wonder if conventional forks will be phased out too…
I wonder if axial brake calipers will only be used in the rear…
Even though they’re both two-wheelers, modern ones are like a completely different thing—they’re collections of electronic equipment.
Those simple carb bikes? They’re becoming a thing of the past, and it’s only a matter of time…
Like everything else, if parts aren’t supplied, repair and maintenance can’t happen.
If someone says don’t keep the same bike that long, maybe they’re right, but in terms of taking care of things, it might be eco-friendly.
We’ve always relied on manufacturers to supply parts, so I think we’re now reaching an era where we need to feel the urgency and start stocking the parts we need ourselves.
I’m amazed how 20 or 30 years have passed without me noticing. (Including myself.)
