When I bought the Inazuma 1200, it had a decent amount of tread and was manufactured in 2020.
Still usable, I thought.
But there was some kind of liquid—a wax-like coating—slathered all over it.
If I just degrease it properly, it should be fine, right? The road temperature is high anyway.
That was way too optimistic of me (*´ω｀)
Rolling around locally, there was no problem.
Since it’s used, I wasn’t trusting it anyway, but as long as I was riding gently around town, there were no issues.
I felt something a bit off, and I thought maybe it was just the tires bedding in, so I kept riding for a few days.
Then I thought I’d take a short trip, and the moment I made slightly sharper movements than usual—
both front and rear went whoosh, ta-ta-ta. It was sliding like it was on wet road markings.
Could that really happen? I thought maybe oil was leaking, so I got off and checked the tires but found nothing wrong.
They still felt smooth to the touch. That was pretty scary, honestly (‘ω’)ノ
I originally wanted to replace them at the same time I installed the mag tank, but I decided to swap them out now instead.
I went with the recently well-reviewed Michelin POWER GP (*´ω｀*)
For an old guy like me, they look cool with that Yokohama Getter vibe.
I really came to realize that you should replace your tires before doing anything else.
Tires and brakes first—safety comes first.
The Moriwaki slider delivery is taking forever, which is really frustrating. I should have just bought it on Amazon.
