Back in the day, didn’t you dream of a full-scale meter?
I swapped one in right away when I was riding an XJR1200.
Those were the good old days when you could make a living just knowing part numbers.
With meters going digital lately, analog might be making a comeback.
When I customize my own bikes, I usually don’t use the stock meter.
But this time is special…
I’ve already ordered a STACK8130, but with the way things are, it shows no sign of arriving.
Is this some kind of shipping scam?
Anyway, the price was reasonable and the mileage was high.
I wanted to ride the Inazuma a bit more stock, so I grabbed this one while I could, savoring the original charm (*’ω’*)
I don’t go that fast, but a full-scale meter really does have great balance. I find myself admiring it.
Cable-driven analog meters will disappear more and more from here on.
Buy new ones while you can (if the price is reasonable).
There’s meter overhaul work, but basically I don’t think small parts for overhaul are being delivered. Probably.
So it’s just disassembly, cleaning, adjustment, and lubrication. Bad parts get swapped out for good stock—that’s the flow.
If you think of it as keeping the same parts in use for a long time, that might be the right way to see it.
Old original analog meters will definitely be discontinued. Why not grab a full-scale meter while you still can?
Or maybe the domestic 180 km/h spec will become popular instead…
