“GS1000S” 2023 Year-End Review Part 2

Getting drowsy…
I’m getting sleepy…

Work report blogs get boring
so I often add things like that
“Would GS or something be okay?”

Nothing has changed in several years
but I hope it’s useful as a reference

“Oil-cooled Bright Logic Kobayashi Pipe”

GS/GSX/oil-cooledcylinder pitch is common
Flange pitch and flange
need to be dealt with somehow.

“Titanium muffler processing by Aiyama Manufacturing”

They’ll attach anything you ask for.
Of course, you need a budget (*´ω`*)

“Silencer is old Motocorse”

= Kobayashi Pipe
100φ×500mm Titanium

“SDA Seat Base & Rider Seat Miyauchi”

The seat base is SDA
and the rider seat by Miyauchi
had a lot of sponge applied
which I repeatedly shaved and rode

The outer skin was made to look authentic from the image
by them.
Thinking about it now
I could have made a storage compartment in the tandem section…

“RGA500 Rear Brake Master”

Back then integrated units were mainstream?
Stylistically cool
but difficult to layout

I want to do something about this in the future too…

“Head is Asakawa SPL”

Only the porting
“It’s a bonus!”
saying that
he worked on it back then.
Everything else I did myself.
Air-cooled engines of this era
are extremely simple and user-friendly
parts are large and easy to work with.

GS1000 heads differ between early and late models
GS/E also have models with and without M6 boss on the head side
so having one is better.

It’s easy to tell by forced opening and vacuum carbs

0.5mm oversized piston
0.5mm deck height
Yoshimura ST-1
it was nice that parts were still available back then

“XR Series Magnesium Clutch Cover”

Suzuki Factory = XR
Sourced from Yahoo Auctions…
The sand-cast feel is irresistible~

“US Yoshimura GSX1100S Cover”

The bottom one
doesn’t fit between GSX and GS
so I welded it closed and re-drilled it
Pure casting! Excellent (*´ω`*)

“Stem Unknown? For 40φ”

A really uncomfortable item
introduced in Part ①
acquired as a set with Yoshimura KYB
mysteriously fits the GS1000 perfectly

can be installed with just the handlebar stopper
a divine item?
35mm offset, 190mm span

“Headlight Bracket Impulse 400”

I’m not a fan of clamping headlight brackets
clamping makes serviceability terrible
the stock design is well thought out
“always floating”

vibration countermeasures are perfect

Phew~ (*´ω`*)
