Going to replace the alternator regulator and brushes
It’s safer to replace the regulator around 50,000 km.
While you’re at it, you might as well replace the brushes too.
Inazuma 1200/Bandit 1200/GS1200SS only have improved alternators.
If you’re going to adapt one, using a later-model alternator will be compatible with MF and lithium batteries too, so you can feel confident.
Just 5 more bolts once you remove the cover. You can even replace it while on the road
*Just be careful with the brushes.
Clean up the appearance and MAX!
Going to use a genuine Suzuki ignition coil.
Suzuki 33410-31311 Mounting pitch 90mm
Universal coil with longer cord. Compatible with 2-4Ω resistance.
It’s designed safely(?) so it usually reads close to 4Ω, which makes me hesitate for a moment… but it’s fine.

The starter motor doesn’t sit well, so I’m going to relieve the shaft and disassemble it
It’s good to know the weight by rotating the shaft by hand before disassembling.

The brushes come loose and it’s hard to insert the shaft.
An assembly ring-type tool would be convenient.
There’s a groove in the guide, so I fixed it with a plate and popped it out!

By the way, starter motor brushes usually have a lot of material left.
Starter motor body earth! Even 1% improvement is worth it
Polish the body side and case side well and secure them.
Strangely, once you disassemble it, the shaft rotates more smoothly and the starter feels lighter somehow?
