Ditching Quad Lock?? Recently Popular! “Daytona’s SP CONNECT” – What’s It All About? Motorcycle Smartphone Setup

I don’t really keep up with new things, so I’m not very knowledgeable about the latest motorcycle parts.
But I often notice something surprising when I see parts installed on customers’ bikes.

Recently I’ve been seeing unfamiliar smartphone mounts?
I looked into what product they were from.
It turns out it’s a product called SP CONNECT that Daytona handles.

The concept is similar to Quad Lock – you rotate it to lock, very simple.
There was a time when Quad Lock had questionable parts supply, so maybe SP CONNECT gained popularity during that gap.

There’s a wide variety of attachments! But they’re quite pricey.

Like Quad Lock, you need to get a smartphone case.
Plus you’ll need the attachment shown in the image above.

The design is machined aggressively, and the quality feel is excellent.

Basically it only moves in “left-right rotation” and “front-back” directions.

I’m not criticizing this product, so don’t worry.

Position adjustment requires tools.
“Left-right rotation” and “front-back” movement is all it can do.
When I saw people using this product, I thought it was a bit strange.
Almost everyone seems to end up with a similar number of parts in their installation.

Probably, like in the product image,
they imagined being able to install it in one shot with the Moto Mount Pro.
It’s easy to overlook, but the ability to adjust angles in three dimensions is actually important.
And it’s nice to be able to adjust position without tools and have a short overall length.

You really can’t tell with these kinds of products until you actually install them.

Clamp to clamp keeps adding up, making it quite an impressive structure.
I was thinking, couldn’t it be a bit simpler?

If it were me, I’d use it like this, muscle!

SP Connect has a very simple charging attachment lineup too.

This is contactless and can charge your smartphone, plus it also serves as a vibration absorption attachment.
I think this is a very rare item to be this compact and thin-walled.
If you’re charging your smartphone around the handlebars, you should definitely choose this.

The following 2 items are Plan A

First, the ball head mount and vibration absorption are essential.
Using the ball head mount allows for completely free adjustment.
To safely use your precious smartphone, the vibration absorption attachment is absolutely necessary.

The following 2 items are Plan B

Next, it’s solved with the usual ball mount kit.

The RAM Mount base mirror frame base is 9mm, but the hole is loose so a 10mm will fit too.
If it’s tight, you can drill it out.

Clamp this base together with the back mirror or similar.
Then just install with the REC-MOUNT 62mm ball joint arm and you have complete freedom.
This REC-MOUNT 62mm has clearance in the cross direction – that’s the trick!
I’ve never seen a similar product. Thanks to this clearance, it has incredible freedom of movement.

I install all my bikes with a similar configuration.

By the way, if you have a ball base installed on the bike frame, you can reuse the smartphone mount.
And when you don’t need it or during maintenance, you can remove it instantly – it looks clean.

This got a bit long, but choosing this type of product and installing it simply is
actually very difficult, so I think it’s best to think about it in your head for about a month.
