【Item Introduction】Adding more keys isn’t smart! Turning the helmet holder with just one main key—”Was it already converted to one-key?”

I’m the type who wants to get on and off my bike smoothly and smartly.
Lately, I’ve been thinking—doesn’t everyone feel like things are getting unnecessarily fiddly and time-consuming?
Back in the day, we’d just hang our helmet on the mirror and leave it there.
There weren’t many people stealing other people’s helmets back then.

These days, with theft being a concern, we lock them up carefully.

The helmet lock is positioned lower than the seat, so it scratches easily.
Plus, it tends to get a bit dirty. And on top of that,
attaching and removing it is a hassle. That’s when I realized these issues.
It might not look fancy, but I decided to go with something that mounts to the brake master cylinder.

First, I wanted to make it one-key…Hehe. That’s what I was thinking, but then…

Today’s Item Recommendation & Smartification Log

Theme: Converting a separate helmet holder to use **one main key (one-key conversion)**.

Common stress: Because of the added helmet holder, your keychain ends up with an extra “tiny key.”

Hidden damage: While riding, that key bounces around and scratches your favorite top bridge and handlebar area.

Solution: Completely disassemble the lock cylinder! Adjust the internal micro tumblers to match your main key’s profile, enabling lock and unlock with just your main key.

Shop owner’s take: The satisfaction of opening everything with a single key. This is the foundation of a smart, friction-free adult motorcycle lifestyle!

Unfortunately… it was already one-key converted from the start.

What is this? I tried turning it and it just opened…
Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Aren’t you supposed to file down the plate?
By the way, the reverse didn’t work. *I couldn’t turn on the Zephyr with it.
If there were any difference in stroke feel, I’d file it, but it’s identical to the original key.
Well, I’ll just leave it as is… What’s going on? My story’s getting thin.

Kitaco 80-564-90050 Helmet Holder

Kitaco 80-564-90050

The handlebar diameter is 22.2φ with a 32mm pitch.
The clamp has a step, so you’d expect to bottom one side out, right?
In reality, when you install it, it’s quite tricky—you can’t get one side bottomed out and the other perpendicular at the same time.
So you loosen the step (higher side) and use the other bolt (countersunk screw) to fine-tune the fit.
That’s a bit scary for a brake mount.

I inserted a small-diameter washer to adjust the gap and ensure proper bottoming, then assembled it.
You really want the mounting to be solid and secure.

Make sure to carefully check the groove direction of your original key before buying the helmet holder.
Don’t trust EC site images—always check the official website.

Why does it open when the shape is completely different?
By the way, it didn’t open with a GPZ550 key…

After much deliberation, installation complete.

Maybe because this isn’t for the master cylinder?
I addressed the vague mounting tightness.

The hole for the countersunk screw is extremely tight—either there’s excess paint or it’s just barely fitting.
I enlarged the hole to 6.5φ.

Avoid M6*50 countersunk screws if possible.
With M6,the HEX becomes too small—only 4mm.
While we’re not applying much torque, switching to Torx or similar is safer.

But honestly,Torx countersunk 6×50mm only comes in SUS304…

Expected and Unexpected

I suspected it wouldn’t reach, and sure enough it doesn’t.
It’s 50-60mm short…
I don’t want to add extra cargo, and I don’t want to rotate the mirror.

I want to quickly hang it on the mirror and lock it.

Then I found a handy gadget! (*´ω`*)Eureka!

Kijima Helmet Lock Assist 2 Blue P00030

This should fit the distance perfectly.

Parts you buy often have subtle fit issues.
Just taking a little time upfront to dial things in makes your bike feel more and more like yours.

This helmet lock assist seems like a really excellent part.
To be continued next time.

DIY Motorcycle Helmet Holder One-Key Conversion.

Topic: Eliminating keychain clutter and preventing top bridge scratches by re-keying your helmet lock. Details: Happy Friday from the Decoboco team! Adding an aftermarket helmet lock is great for utility, but carrying a separate tiny key is a hassle. Worse, that extra key bounces around in the wind, scratching your beautiful top triple clamp during rides. Our ultimate solution is a “One-Key Conversion.” We completely strip down the lock cylinder of the helmet holder. By rearranging and micro-filing the internal brass tumblers (plates) to perfectly align with your bike’s original ignition key, we eliminate the need for a second key entirely. Verdict: When the main key is inserted, the tumblers sit 100% flush, allowing the lock to turn with buttery-smooth factory precision. True custom styling isn’t just about adding parts; it’s about simplifying and streamlining the details. Keep your top bridge pristine and your keychain minimal!
