I accidentally ran out of contact lenses at the end of the year. I searched various shops around Tokyo, but they all said a prescription was required.
If I order from Amazon the usual way, it takes around January 8–10. That’s a bit inconvenient.
After doing a lot of research, I found out that Don Quixote sells contact lenses without a prescription. I headed right over to Don Quixote and picked some up.
You do have to enter your address, name, phone number, date of birth, and so on on the spot, which does feel a bit tedious.
I was shocked at how good the contact lenses actually are
I’m usually a two-week contact lens person. But after trying these, if the cost is the same, I think one-day lenses are better.
Honestly, I had zero expectations for Don Quixote’s contact lenses, but the fit and moisture were exactly what I liked, and I was really surprised.
I’ve even gone ahead and bought about five different types of disposable contact lenses I’m currently using, doing a “contact lens compatibility test” to choose the right one. This New Year’s, I really came to appreciate that Don Quixote shouldn’t be underestimated.
A useful tip to remember in case of emergency
With 636 Don Quixote stores across Japan, it’s really helpful in a pinch. And the fact that they’re reasonably priced and always in stock is truly appreciated.
Plus, the quality is good, which is a nice bonus. When it comes to contact lenses, everyone has different base curves and preferences, so I think it’s worth trying them out.
I have a month’s supply, so if they continue to work well, I’m planning to order them again.
