If you’re not used to it, removing the fairing is a hassle.
We insert protective boards on both sides and drag it out. Basically, you can’t remove it cleanly. Without love, power, and trust with the owner, the work cannot be done.
We’re modifying the Deco-mainte content and proceeding.
Fork oil change that hasn’t been replaced in quite a while. It’s a job that’s hard to request in terms of labor hours, but the effect is significant. The smell and dirt look pretty good.
The inner tube has some minor damage. For now there’s no leak, so we’ll keep using it. If it starts leaking, we’ll re-plate it.
Fork oil changed, vacuum bled, and air purged. Structurally, this fork is tedious to bleed with just strokes, but vacuum bleeding does it in one go. Using vacuum bleeding gives you peace of mind that any fork will be properly bled. It makes a huge difference once you adopt it.
It’s running fine, but I’m a bit concerned about the dirt. We’ll do a light disassembly and freshen it up.
We don’t disassemble down to the four-stage, but we remove and clean the throttle valve, jets, and everything. Checking the jets again will be good for the future.
The float chamber is rust-free and looks great.
A vacuum pump that can also be used for carburettor synchronization! Get one this year-end!
It was so clean we didn’t even need to change it….
Caliper cleaning and fluid change
Calipers with external dust seals are nice. With a single oil seal, they have low friction and good operation while keeping dust out. Both front and rear were problem-free.
The fluid condition is like this. The rear looks pitch black, but that’s just the body’s aluminum anodizing showing through. The brake fluid is absolutely reliable Golden Cruiser DOT4.
