[Verification] First oil change on Z750FX after drain bolt relocation. Work time reduced to 1/10 without removing the muffler!

I’m back from that hellish same-day surgery.
I really think you should avoid same-day surgery at all costs….
I’ll write another blog post about this painful experience, so if you’re considering deviated septum surgery, please refer to it.

The oil pan machining is complete, so I’ll assemble it smoothly.

Maintenance log for this article

Vehicle: Kawasaki Z750FX-1

Verification content: First oil change after relocating the drain bolt on the oil pan.

Previous procedure: Loosen the exhaust flange, remove the tailpipe, shift the collector…… (over 30 minutes required).

Current procedure: Place an oil drain pan underneath and loosen the drain bolt (3 minutes required).

Conclusion: I’m convinced that oil pan modification is the “best value-for-money” custom for Z riders.

I’ve been passing it off to Fujitake because it was a hassle! (´ー`)

Fujitake Metal
Currently, blog updates are on hold due to being busy. I created a new webpage, but…
I need to improve SEO measures further.
The reason isFujitake MetalHomepage“Currently doesn’t show up in search results at all.”It’s like that.
I almost wonder if it’s not even published…. Go Gamba Osaka.

The other day, I removed the oil pan and asked them to wet blast it and send it.
Oil pan = cast iron → soaked in oil for years → cast iron + oil penetration makes welding difficult = that’s the Fujitake flow.
As expected, they finished it with ease and confidence.

I adopted a Suzuki fine-pitch M14-P1.25 drain bolt.

Of course, this has been wet blasted one final time, so it’s finished even more beautifully (*´ω`*)

Oil pan removal and installation work is super efficient with a lift?

We alsodidn’t have a lift in the old days, so we really struggled.
You can’t get lower than the floor.

I’m really grateful to T-san for that.
Both lifts were permanently loaned to us by T-san, so we’re grateful to use them.

I pretty much understand why people hesitate to invest in a lift.
The issue of effective land space
Just having a lift imposes significant constraints, so for shops in urban areas without much space, land is a critical issue.
But with a lift, efficiency and fatigue levels are completely different.
I’m not a fan of toilet bidet seats, so I wouldn’t know, but
“bidet”feels kind of like that? I think.

Vehicles with engine overhauls are nice.
It came off pretty cleanly…. That’s reassuring.
Whether the gasket remains on the case side or not makes a huge difference in labor.
Gasket removal is such a pain that you can’t really charge double labor…. That’s the reality.

They’re keeping it really clean.
I wonder how many engines I swapped in the old GSF I used to ride….
Because I treated it so badly, I was swapping engines every year. *Swapping the engine was faster and cheaper than changing the transmission
I was thinking about that while looking up and scraping off the gasket.

Torque is applied, so I cut off the excess just barely.

I replaced the bolt with a Honda OEM flanged bolt (steel).

All Zs should be like this

Of course, since it’s on the right, you have to tilt it upright or slightly to the right, so it’s harder to drain than stock.
That said, there’s not a huge difference in volume.
Since removing the exhaust every time is a hassle, relocating the drain makes oil changes more enjoyable.

After that, I’ll check the weather and go for inspection to complete it.

Testing the Result: Oil Change on Z750FX with Relocated Drain Bolt.

Verification: Performed the first oil change after modifying the oil pan to move the drain bolt. Result: Previously, I had to remove the exhaust system every time, which was a huge hassle. Now, I can change the oil in minutes without touching the exhaust. Conclusion: This modification is a “must-have” for any Z-series owner with aftermarket headers.
