A terrible rear-end collision occurred while driving. *On the highway. We’re so grateful there were no serious injuries. We haven’t heard all the details yet, but we did get the dashcam footage.
This is seriously dangerous… We need to be careful not just when stopped, but also when slightly slowing down and watching what’s behind us.
That’s how we’ll determine whether it can be repaired!

Vehicle: Kawasaki GPZ900R (Ninja)
Reason for Intake: Rear-end collision from a truck from behind.
Vehicle Condition:
The tremendous impact has caused the area around the rear tire through the tail cowl, including the seat rail, to bend severely upward in a “fiercely arched” state.
Message from the Mechanic:
Motorcycle rear-end collisions are truly life-threatening because the rider gets pinned directly against the bike. When waiting at a red light or stuck in traffic, always check your rearview mirror for the movement of vehicles behind you, and make sure to keep an “escape route” ready just in case!

It’s the best because it gives way at the weak point and even comes off (*´ω｀*). The mounting bolts were definitely bent, but so far we haven’t found any paint damage at the mounting points.
I carefully observe and disassemble. I’ll reuse bolts that are clean and haven’t been stressed. Honestly… these days, even a single bolt is incredibly expensive. You can’t buy them for just tens of yen each anymore (*´ω｀*).
The brake pedal mounting shaft is bent. That’s a dump truck for you… incredible power.
Quickly removing parts.
I try to keep the work area as organized as possible. I really dislike the appearance of “messy” work. It just looks like a lot of work, you know… and it subtly kills my motivation and drive.
Both the axle and pivot show no damage
If this area had suffered major damage and the frame side had become loose, I was ready to give up. But… Since it was hit while moving, the force must have dissipated somewhat as the bike was pushed forward.
I was relieved for now.
Without the seat rail, it’s a strange world
The harness area seems surprisingly okay. Though everything around the dashcam has been torn off…
Since the GPZ900R is quite old, there are many discontinued parts. We’ll have to use Yahoo Auctions and Up Garage to source the parts we need.
