Perhaps it’s because the hub is being pulled by the spokes. One side had the bearing press-fit clearance loosen, so we applied press-fit specific chemical to address it.
You can use a tire changer even with tubes. The worry about pinching the tube completely disappears, so tools really are essential.
They brought new ones, so we’re replacing them. By the way, the one I’m holding is a used one we wet-blasted (on the back side)
Nissin’s mysterious single-piston sliding caliper
It’s another mysterious caliper I’ve never seen before. It even has pad pins…
Considering the years and mileage, it was in surprisingly excellent condition for a non-anodized caliper.
We finished it off with a crisp wet blast.
Checking the piston diameter can lead to future reuse possibilities.
For a sliding caliper, smooth operation is everything. Replace the boots with new ones “silicone grease” for lubrication. Using mineral-based grease will cause swelling. When you balance silicone grease spray and grease well, it really moves smoothly. *This time the body side was a bit worn, so we had some trouble, but it’s better now.
Honestly… the pads on this caliper are likely to disappear… or so it seems. Is this representative model too maniacal, and only Suzuki has it?
Having pad pins with single-piston design bothers me—there’s an extra guide… Single-piston calipers from Nissin have a wide variety, so parts supply is reassuring.
The Savage 650 has extremely poor serviceability
True to the Savage 650. This bike has surprisingly poor serviceability.
Just to replace this battery case cover… You have to remove the seat, take off the side covers, lift the tank, shift the carburetor band, and barely squeeze in access. With so much empty space, I wish they’d made it simpler~
So the front end is now sharp and crisp! Next is getting the inspection certificate and we’re done (*´ω｀*)
