What you want to do in life varies depending on what you want to achieve. But one thing I’ll say: “fewer regrets are better.” That’s my belief. Probably… That’s why I live by the motto of not complaining or dissing anyone. Probably.
This is a story about how I was incredibly moved when I bought my first-ever garage mat.

I happened to see the same lift, and I was moved by seeing a maintenance mat laid underneath it. he.racing18
After seeing that, I thought “I should copy that” and that’s how it started. Overseas garages and maintenance environments are so simple and clean. They really keep things neat. It’s always inspiring.
There are so many types of garage mats out there… I didn’t want a purely Japanese brand, and I wondered what a maintenance mat actually was in the first place. How is it different from carpet? That’s where my research journey began.

International shopping has really become so easy these days… Waiting 2 weeks… Oxford Workshop Mat L Black/White/Red Even with shipping, it’s incredibly affordable (*´ω｀*) I ordered two since I have two lifts.
Two of these cost about the same as one domestic brand.
It arrived with very secure packaging… I think it could have been smaller? I’m not sure.
It says 3kg, but considering the size, it’s incredibly light. I was almost worried if it would be sturdy enough
The anti-slip is solid, so this is reassuring.
I temporarily laid it down and stood on it, and “the cushioning is excellent” Now I understand why this is becoming popular. I think it reduces fatigue.
Cleaning the lift. Thanks to T-san (*´ω｀*)
Both of these lifts were graciously donated to me. Initially, even though I received them, I thought “the ground is enough!” and didn’t use them at all. But then at some point, when I had to weld a broken frame section, I struggled tremendously. The thing is, without a lift, “you can’t work on areas lower than ground level” The beauty of a lift is that “the longer you work without one, the more amazed you become when you finally get one” It’s like getting your first smartphone—maybe an exaggeration, but it brings that level of excitement and efficiency. If you’re planning to do this work long-term, I’d recommend getting one as soon as possible.
This is just my opinion, but a lift is definitely better when it’s “longer and wider”
Even with daily cleaning, there’s always some stubborn dirt and debris that doesn’t come off.
I attached a simple dolly to one side, so I can just push it to move it. It’s good to move it occasionally and clean underneath. Then I scrub the floor with alkaline cleaner and we’re done cleaning.
After that, the floor gets a good alkaline cleaner scrub and cleaning is complete.

Laying a mat under the lift instantly adds a sense of luxury. My own garage really is the best. My love for it just deepens.
Most importantly, it’s FIM certified! Though in my case it doesn’t really matter… but it just feels good, you know?
The other lift has the GPZ front end completely disassembled and can’t be moved, so I’ll tackle that another day. I think I’m getting hooked on maintenance mats (*´ω｀*)
